At The Joy Bus, volunteers are more than just a part of our team—they are the heart and soul of our mission. Our Meal Delivery Volunteers are essential to making our vision of providing “More than a Meal” a reality for homebound cancer patients. Without their dedication and compassion, our program simply wouldn’t be possible.

Each delivery goes far beyond dropping off a meal—it’s a chance to make a genuine human connection. Our volunteers bring comfort, support, and a reminder that someone cares deeply. A simple visit can brighten the day of someone facing some of life’s most challenging moments, showing them they are loved and valued beyond measure.

Meal deliveries take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings, with volunteer opportunities to support clients throughout the valley. Your time and dedication make a profound difference, and we are truly grateful for your support.

We’re always looking for passionate volunteers to help us bring nourishment and kindness to the Valley! Whether you’re assisting in the diner, prepping meals in the kitchen, or picking up fresh produce and microgreens, your time and effort make a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

Volunteer Opportunities:

• FOH Diner Assistant – Help create a warm, welcoming atmosphere by engaging with guests and ensuring smooth front-of-house operations.

• BOH Prep Cook – Play a crucial role in the kitchen by assisting with meal preparation and assembly, providing nourishing food to those in need.

• Produce & Microgreens Pickup Champion – Support our mission by gathering fresh, locally sourced ingredients that enhance the quality and nutrition of every meal we serve.

Decorating Delivery Bags, Cards, & Placemats for The Joy Bus

Bring a little extra joy to our meal delivery program by helping decorate delivery bags, cards, or placemats! As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to add a personal touch to every meal we deliver. Whether it's designing cheerful cards, creating colorful placemats, or decorating bags with uplifting messages, your creative contributions help brighten someone’s day and make the meal feel even more special. Your efforts remind our recipients that they are cared for and part of a community that supports them. Join us in spreading joy and love, one decoration at a time!

Community Events

Our presence in the community is vital to our mission. Our volunteers who participate in events are often the community's first impression of The Joy Bus' mission and motivation. While every event is different, usually this includes attending events, music festivals, fundraisers, or culinary expos. These volunteers engage with the public providing information, selling merch or serving food.

Giving back is more than just an act—it’s a shared mission. At The Joy Bus, we offer customized volunteer experiences for corporate teams and large groups looking to make a real difference. Whether you’re helping prepare fresh meals, organizing meal delivery essentials, or assisting with essential tasks like cleaning and sorting, your team will play a vital role in bringing nourishment and care to homebound individuals in our community.
