Volunteers are an essential part of The Joy Bus Meal Delivery Program – our mission could not be accomplished without this crucial part of our team! Our meal delivery volunteers truly embody our goal of providing “More than a Meal” to homebound cancer patients. Each home visit is the opportunity to provide support, to ask how the client is doing, and let a person who is dealing with some of the most difficult days of their life know that they are loved and cared for beyond measure.
Meal deliveries take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings and sign-up options include Phoenix, Scottsdale, and the West Valley. Thank you for the gift of your time!

The Joy Bus Diner is a 100% nonprofit restaurant that’s helping make our Valley a tastier, happier place, one meal at a time. Serving hearty, made-to-order breakfast and lunch fare every Thursday – Sunday from 7am – 2pm, every cent earned will be used to support The Joy Bus, a local charity that’s been bringing chef-inspired meals and caring conversations to cancer patients Valley-wide.
Founded and operated by Jennifer Caraway, The Joy Bus Diner™ is the culmination of her five-plus year effort to improve the lives of local cancer patients through the power of a hand delivered meal and face-to-face interaction. Inspired by a friend named Joy who had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, Caraway started dropping off home-cooked dinners and chatting with local cancer patients in need of a little good cheer. Over time it expanded into Valley-wide non-profit organization named The Joy Bus, which collects and cooks donated food for volunteers to deliver to patients around the Valley in need of a friendly face and an open ear.
Volunteer opportunities at The Joy Bus Diner include both front-of-house and back-of-house positions. Thank you for the gift of your time!

Decorating for Deliveries
Our meals are delivered with a friendly face, hand-decorated bags, and custom placemats. Our recipients often save their bags and display them in their homes. Hosting a decorating event is a great way to team build, and volunteer with your group of any size and allow for people of all ages and abilities to give back.
Community Events
Our presence in the community is vital to our mission. Our volunteers who participate in events are often the community's first impression of The Joy Bus' mission and motivation. While every event is different, usually this includes attending events, music festivals, fundraisers, or culinary expos. These volunteers engage with the public providing information, selling merch or serving food.

These volunteers procure donated produce from our vendors and deliver them to the diner. These donations and the relationship with vendors are imperative to our program and success.
