Kitchen volunteers keep our culinary operations running with excellence, speed, and heart. They’re the ones who make it possible for every meal to leave our doors fresh, delicious, and ready to brighten someone’s day. This category brings together several vital roles:

  • BOH Prep Cooks – Assist with chopping, cooking, meal assembly, dishwashing, and kitchen sanitization, ensuring every plate meets our high standards.

  • Meal Packaging Volunteers – Portion, label, and organize meals by route so deliveries run smoothly and on time.

  • Produce & Microgreens Pickup Champions – Gather fresh, locally sourced ingredients from partner locations to boost flavor, quality, and nutrition.

These are our behind-the-scenes champions—the ones who make “More than a Meal” possible long before the first knock on a person with cancer’s door. Volunteers in this category must complete Joy Bus Orientation, hold a valid Arizona Food Handler’s Card, and receive Food Prep and/or Speed Sealer Certifications provided by The Joy Bus. These roles are a top priority as we expand our meal production.
