Parks, Land & Water Volunteer Portal

Welcome! We're so glad that you're interested in volunteering with us! By joining at any of the various opportunities listed below, you are directly supporting the important work of the program areas below year-round.

Below are the steps to using our Volunteer Portal:

  1. Current volunteer opportunities are listed below. Click on each type of activity listed to read more about it. If you do not see an opportunity listed, it is because it may be seasonal and is currently not available.

  2.  If you see an event that you'd like to sign up for, or you would like to be notified of volunteer activities as they become available, you must first create an account (click the "fill in an application" button). This allows you to fill out our volunteer waiver and immediately sign up for any volunteer opportunities.

  3. Once you have an account, you can sign up to volunteer at any workday or volunteer event, upload certifications, and more! Some activities require that a volunteer meet certain qualifications before being able to sign up. The activity will list the steps to meet the qualification if it's required.

Ecological Restoration: Prescribed Burning

Many ecosystems in Wisconsin rely upon regular fire to hinder invasive plant encroachment and stimulate growth of native plants. It is a practice that is undertaken with the utmost seriousness for control and safety, and various trainings with certifications are required for interested volunteers.  Learn more on our Prescribed Burns webpage.
