ROLE DETAILS

ROLE PURPOSE AND KEY DUTIES
This role is integral to the smooth running of our annual Strathcarron Hospice 10K Road Race. As a volunteer marshal you will offer a friendly, encouraging face for all runners around the route - directing runners and members of the public on the correct route and encouraging the runners on this fantastic challenge.
Key Duties: (not exhaustive)
- confidently directing runners along the route;
- offering words of encouragement and support to runners;
- being a friendly, approachable representative of the Hospice;
- contacting Events Fundraiser with any queries or concerns;
- representing Strathcarron Hospice.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Whilst performing this role, a volunteer will be required to stand for several hours
in one position along the 10K Route.

Papermill Café Assistant - Bellfield Centre
ROLE DETAILS
Location: Papermill Café - Bellfield Centre, Stirling Community Hospital

ROLE PURPOSE AND KEY DUTIES
To assist the Hospice Bellfield Café staff with the running of the café. Volunteers will be required to wear protective headgear and aprons provided by the Hospice.
Key Duties: (not exhaustive)
- dealing with food and beverage orders promptly;
- barista coffee preparation;
- operating the till and handling cash and card transactions;
- follow food safety and hygiene standards and maintain high standards of food
presentation; - replenishing crockery, cutlery, condiments, napkins in the dining area;
- cleaning and tidying café and kitchen area;
- loading/unloading the dishwasher;
- washing utensils, pots, pans, and chopping boards etc.;
- any other tasks as may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a physically demanding role which will require a volunteer to be on their feet
long periods of time.

Community Collector (e.g. Light up a Life, Snowdrop Appeal)
ROLE DETAILS

ROLE PURPOSE AND KEY DUTIES
This role is integral to the success of our Community Collections and Campaigns. As a Volunteer Collector you will offer a friendly, encouraging face to members of the public – enabling them to make a donation to the Hospice via cash or contactless device (where available).
Key Duties: (not exhaustive)
- confidently representing Strathcarron Hospice across the local community in supermarkets, garden centres, town and city centres, concerts and festivals etc.;
- accepting cash and contactless donations from donators;
- being a friendly, approachable representative of the Hospice;
- contacting Community Campaign Coordinator with any queries or concerns.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Whilst performing this role, a volunteer will be required to collect for 2-3 hours in
one location. In most locations these will be standing, there are some seated
locations depending on location/event.

Compassionate Neighbour
ROLE DETAILS

Responsible To: Community Development Lead
Department: Compassionate Communities' Team

ROLE PURPOSE AND KEY DUTIES
To form part of the existing befriending team by visiting and supporting a person within the Hospice catchment area of Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth.
Compassionate Neighbours induction will be provided with optional training including goal setting, talking mats, SAGE & THYME (communication aid) training. Cuppa and Catch Up sessions for volunteers are hosted quarterly, and one to one support from staff is available when required.
This role is subject to a Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups (“PVG”) check.
Key Duties: (not exhaustive)
- visiting the same person at home at an agreed time weekly or fortnightly;
- offering friendship and conversation;
- provide a listening ear about poor health and/or planning ahead for poorer health or for death where appropriate;
- fun activities - for example chatting about common interests, playing dominos, skill sharing such as crafting etc.

Driver
ROLE DETAILS

Responsible To: Various – In-Patient Unit, Patient & Family Support, Lymphoedema

ROLE PURPOSE AND KEY DUTIES
To provide transport to and from the Hospice for people who otherwise would not be able to come in to visit family or attend medical/counselling appointments.
To assist the In-Patient Unit by providing transport by picking up and collecting medical items,
collection, medical prescriptions to and from the local pharmacy/hospital.
The Hospice operates a WhatsApp group for drivers where assistance is required and once a
driver has picked this up – details will be sent via email.
This person facing role is subject to a Disclosure Scotland Protection of Vulnerable Groups (“PVG”) check.
Key Duties: (not exhaustive)
- In Patient Unit – collection and delivery of samples, prescriptions and items to the Hospital and pharmacy at weekends and early evening. Occasionally, there are requests from a patient’s family for transport to and from the Hospice;
- Patient & Family Support – occasionally drive patients for counselling sessions from home to the Hospice and return;
- Lymphoedema Clinic – collect and return patients from home to the clinic for appointments;
- And any other tasks as may be required.
REQUIREMENTS
- May have to assist patients in and out of cars
- Full UK driving licence (with no more than 3 points)
- Valid vehicle insurance which allows for volunteer driving

ROLE PURPOSE AND KEY DUTIES
This role is integral to the smooth running of a busy kitchen and café area. As a volunteer member of the Catering team you will support the catering team in the delivery of food and beverages to staff, visitors and volunteers.

- barista coffee preparation;
- restocking salad bar, water jugs, etc;
- operating the till and handling cash and card transactions;

This role is integral to the smooth running of a busy kitchen and café area. As a volunteer member of the Catering Team you will assist the team with their preparation of vegetable. You will also ensure that there is a constant supply of clean pots, crockery, cutlery, etc.
Key Duties: (not exhaustive)
- assisting with vegetable preparation;
- assisting with stocking fridges, freezers, supply shelves in the kitchen;
- replenishing crockery, cutlery, condiments, napkins in the dining area;
- cleaning and tidying tables in dining area;
