ROLE DETAILS
Location: Strathcarron Hospice
Responsible To: Catering Manager
Department: Catering Team
Hours: 10:00am — 2:00pm
2:30pm — 6:00pm
ROLE PURPOSE AND KEY DUTIES
This role is integral to the smooth running of a busy kitchen and café area. As a volunteer member of the Catering team you will support the catering team in the delivery of food and beverages to staff, visitors and volunteers.
Key Duties: (not exhaustive)
- dealing with food and beverage orders promptly;
- barista coffee preparation;
- restocking salad bar, water jugs, etc;
- operating the till and handling cash and card transactions;
- maintain high standard of presentation of food;
- following food safety and hygiene standards;
- such other tasks as may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Whilst performing this role, a volunteer will be required to stand, stoop and may
occasionally have to lift heavy pots, pans, utensils, etc.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- awareness of basic food hygiene;
- good inter-personal skills, cheerful disposition and the ability to communicate
confidently; - work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
- confidence in using a till and handling money;
- understand the importance of confidentiality.
