Provider volunteers provide mental, social, emotional, and physical stimulation to residents

Cabri - Horticulture Provider

Volunteer will assist with caring for watering outdoor plants and maintain yard with weeding outdoor area. Transplanting plants to pots in outdoor space.

Cabri - Youth Recreation Ambassador

This position gives high school students the opportunity to volunteer their time and efforts and experience and learn about continuing care and the careers available.

Tasks include :

Restocking carts (Robes, slippers, toiletries, etc), delivering water and snacks to patients, visiting and playing cards/games, reading, fingernail painting, clearing used dietary trays, collecting wheelchairs, putting light charts together, bring residents to shared meal area and recreation activities, seasonal decorating, assist with recreational events, shadowing nursing staff. 

Cabri - Meals on Wheels Associate

Meals on Wheels is an essential program that supports local Home Care clients by delivering hot, nutritious meals to their homes. Volunteers deliver these meals with a smile and provide social interaction to the individuals they are helping. 

Volunteer Services welcomes individuals, couples, families, corporate groups and organisations to fill weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and casual spots. 

Volunteering for Meals on Wheels allows you the opportunity to support our community, build your resume, meet new people, gain valuable experience, or obtain stewardship/class credit hours. 

 

 

Cabri - Recreation Associate

The Recreation Associate assists with various activities at the site. They encourage client's participation in activities. 

Recreation Associate are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents

Activities include, but are not limited to:  Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas. Birthday parties, volunteer group outings.

Shifts available Monday to Sunday, Morning, afternoon and evening.

To enhance the resident's quality of life by providing entertainment in the form of a demonstration, show or petting zoo.  Volunteers must ensure the animals are under control and/or contained at all times.

Eastend - Pet Visitation Associate

Animals have been found to benefit people socially, psychologically, and physiologically.  The goals of pet visitation programs are to provide opportunities for patients to reach and maintain their optimal level of physical and mental functioning; to maintain or re-establish interests, social contacts and dignity, to alleviate anxiety and redirect attention from their own condition and try to provide an outlet for emotion; and to provide structured, meaningful daily activity.

 All dogs are to be certified and temperament tested by a Certified Pet Dog Trainer or by St. John’s Ambulance. They will be placed in areas according to their certification level.  

 Vaccinations are to be up to date prior to first animal visit o Handlers must complete all required SaskHA Registered Volunteer processes


The physical and mental ability to do the work assigned

 A willingness to comply with SaskHA policies and procedures

 Volunteers are to provide pet visitation only and not utilize therapy dogs as “tools” for therapy.

They assist residents in caring for the outdoor space we have during our Spring/summer/ fall season.

Duties may include:  Planting, Watering and weeding Flowers beds and pots outside LTC home for residents to view and enjoy 

 

 

Leader - Youth Recreation Ambassador

Shaunavon - Wheelchair Pedal Bike Associate

 The volunteer would drive a pedal bike that is specially designed for residents to ride along on.

Volunteers will be trained in safety protocols, emergency off site plan and how to ride the bike.  Volunteers will not assist getting residents on or off bike, this will be done specifically by trained staff.  Volunteers will be trained on a pre-destination route with check out and in with approximate time of return.
