About Us

B&NES Council Libraries reach across all of the communities in Bath and North East Somerset. We have locations in Central Bath, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton and a Mobile Library that covers most rural locations.

Our free public libraries serve customers from across the community. They can borrow books, audiobooks, DVDs and Music and order items in from across the LibrariesWest area which includes Bristol, Somerset, North Somerset, South Gloucester, Dorset and Poole. We also provide access to computers, local history resources, newspapers, magazines and study space.

We run a wide variety of clubs and events, from children's storytelling and the Home Library Service to our Fibre Arts Groups, many of which are only possible because of the generosity and enthusiasm of our dedicated volunteers.

In our most recent survey our volunteers gave us an overall score of 4.5/5 and rated 'feeling welcomed by staff' at 4.8/5. Some of their comments included finding their role "interesting and fulfilling", they were "enjoying the role", "very happy" and one said "I have been impressed by the support from the regular staff".

We are always striving to expand the services we offer and to improve the lives of everyone in our community, if you would like to help us with this then please view our opportunities and get in contact.
