What is a Page Turners Club Leader?

As a Page Turners leader you will help organise and lead the Library’s fortnightly drop-in sessions. Page Turners is a shared reading group for adults, where a variety of extracts or short stories are read aloud and friendly conversation is had over tea and biscuits.

What will I be doing?

• Selecting material to read, with staff assitance
• Welcoming anyone who wishes to join in the session
• Reading extracts and passages
• Facilitating conversations between group members
• Recording information such as attendance numbers and handing out any leaflets or surveys as required
• Tidying up the space

This role will suit you if:

• You are enthusiastic and friendly and can communicate well
• You are adaptable to change
• You can work with staff to plan and organise resources
• You are confident in reading aloud to a group

• You are passionate and enthusiastic about libraries and understand the benefits to the community
• You will adhere to all Bath and North East Somerset Council’s policies and procedures, including the Safeguarding and Equalities policies

If you enjoy, or want experience in, running shared reading sessions, this is a great opportunity to gain skills whilst helping people in your local community to meet new people, build confidence, and have fun. We offer full training for the role and regular meet-ups with managers, as well as opportunities for personal development with B&NES Council's 'LearningZone'. As a service we recognise the importance of volunteers in helping us to deliver a full programme of events so we reimburse travel costs and our friendly staff offer support, guidance and a warm welcome.
