Meals on Wheels Volunteers deliver nutritious meals to clients in the community.
These clients have been assessed as needing nutrition support to assist them in living at home.
Volunteers pick up meals at a specific time from a designated SHA location and deliver them to the client at their home.
Delivery occurs over the lunch hour. Shifts may vary. Must have a valid driver's license; personal vehicle is required.
Routes are available in the following communities: Biggar, Eatonia, Eston, Kerrobert, Kindersley, Rosetown, Elrose and Kyle.
The Recreation Associate assists with various activities at the site. They encourage the client's participation in activities.
Recreation Associates are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents.
Activities include, but are not limited to, Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas, birthday parties, and volunteer group outings.
Provider volunteers offer mental, social, emotional, and physical stimulation to residents through various activities.
These activities include group choirs, bands, individual piano players, piano/guitar recitals, performances, dance groups, school entertainment, old-time dancing groups, storytellers, and more.
Allows teachers the opportunity to bring their students into the facility and take part in activities such as playing a game or cards, having a brief conversation, watching the students dance, playing music, singing, participating in a craft or just sitting and visiting it's great stimulation for both the students and residents.
The volunteers whether they be individuals, or a part of a group can volunteer and contribute without having to go through the screening process. Whether that be sending valentines, Christmas cards, knitting lap blankets or newborn baby toques, providing artwork, or taking part in Secret Santa it’s a great way for volunteers to give back to the facility.
Volunteers will have a sense of fulfillment and purpose by interacting with members of the community, contributing to the mental, social, emotional, and physical well-being of others within the community.

Youth Associate - Kerrobert Health Centre
The position allows high school students to volunteer their time and efforts and experience and learn about Acute care & Continuing care and the careers available.
Duties will include : restocking carts (robes, slippers toiletries etc.), delivering water and snacks to patients, visiting, playing cards, reading, fingernail painting, clearing used dietary trays, collecting wheelchairs, putting light charts together, bring clients to shared meal area and recreation activities, seasonal decorating, assist with recreational events, shadowing nursing staff.
Shifts completed in school hours between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm Monday - Friday.
Allows teachers the opportunity to bring their students into the facility and take part in activities such as playing a game or cards, having a brief conversation, watching the students dance, playing music, singing, participating in a craft or just sitting and visiting it's great stimulation for both the students and residents.

The Horticulture provider will be able to bring joy to residents. They will share their talents in gardening and assist to improve and maintain the resident's outdoor space.
They assist in caring for the outdoor space we have during our Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons.
Duties may include: Watering, feed, transplant plants, weed plant beds, trim/prune plants as required, maintain tidiness in garden area.
3-4 times per week, Monday - Sunday mornings, afternoons or evenings.
Palliative volunteers provide social interaction and offer comfort supplies to patients and families receiving care in the hospital. Training to accompany patients and families ensures volunteers are comfortable in their interactions and will receive gratification for their support. This will improve patient’s social well-being as well as physical breaks for families during this end-of-life experience.
Volunteers should have good communication skills, understand the dying process as well as cultural and spiritual considerations, be comfortable with patients at the end of life, and have the ability to function in an emotionally stressful environment.
Volunteers must take Canadian Hospital Palliative Care Volunteer Training Modules 1-2 and 2 hours with Palliative Care Coordinators.
This is an ongoing volunteer role, shifts will vary according to need.

Youth Associate
The position allows high school students to volunteer their time and efforts and experience and learn about Acute Care & Continuing Care and the careers available. CWEX, wellness, and work experience programs depending on availability.
Duties will include: restocking carts (robes, slippers toiletries, etc.), delivering water and snacks to patients, visiting, playing cards, reading, fingernail painting, seasonal decorating, assisting with recreational events, shadowing nursing staff.
Shifts completed in school hours between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
The mom and tots provider program provides mental, social, emotional and physical stimulation to not only the residents but also the children involved. This is an opportunity for residents to interact, enjoy some time outside and watch the children play. Residents can blow bubbles, sing songs and interact with the moms and tots of this program.

Assist with the setup, participation, and cleanup of the program
Discuss setup and equipment needs with staff liaison to ensure safety for all (electrical cords etc)
The volunteer assists in encouraging and engaging residents to participate in programs to improve a residents well-being based on these 5 domains
Accept direction and feedback from the Staff Liason and local Volunteer Services Coordinator

Parents/Guardians are responsible for their child/children at all times
Allows the volunteer to assist the health care team, develop personal growth, meet new people, and provide a feeling of giving back to their community. To support and assist in welcoming patients who use the services in this area of the Kindersley Hospital.
Volunteers will have a sense of fulfillment and purpose by interacting with members of the community, contributing to the mental, social, emotional, and physical well-being of others within the community.
Volunteer tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to greeting patients as they arrive, directing and helping with the flow of patients, small administrative duties, visiting, handing out a light snack after the patients have returned from their procedures, and notifying the admitting nurse of any patient questions or concerns.
Shifts vary Monday-Friday from 9:00 am-4:00 pm.
Volunteers will assist with set-up, participation, and cleanup of the program. Walk beside able-bodied residents or push residents in wheelchairs The volunteer assists in encouraging and engaging residents to participate in programs to improve a resident's well-being and engage in these 5 domains.
