Purpose

The Bible Study Instructor position is a major part of the women's recovery program. The women in the recovery program attend a daily Bible Study/class. This is a great opportunity for someone to lead an engaging and interactive study that promotes spiritual growth and development.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed lesson plans
• Use a variety of methods to create an engaging classroom
• Take a record of resident attendance
• Assist residents with any questions they may have

Purpose

Hebrews 13:16 says, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” We regularly take the women out on outings. Our program is looking for individuals who would make themselves available to drive the bus and take the women to various destinations. (NOTE – even one-way service would be appropriate and helpful – even just bringing the ladies to the destination would be helpful.)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip 
• Pick up and drive residents safely to and from the destination
• Listen to traffic and weather reports to stay up to date on road conditions 
• Provide legal documentation regarding license/insurance to UGM headquarters AND submit appropriate mileage reimbursement requests directly to UGM

Qualifications and Skills

• God fearing 
• Class 4 License
• Strong driving skills  
• Ability to drive in various weather conditions  
• Customer service and interpersonal skills  
• High level of patience, compassion, and empathy in a non-judgmental environment  
• Good working knowledge of the area 

Purpose

The Hairdresser position is a major part of the women's recovery program. This is a great opportunity for the women in the recovery program to have someone take care of them and feel special. This is a great opportunity for someone to lead an engaging conversation and interact with the women on a deeper level while getting their glam on. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cut, style, and treat women's hair
• Consult and advise women on possible hairstyles
• Prep and clean hair salon
• Keep track of available inventory and inform staff of any product needs

Purpose

At the Charis Centre, we get mothers who join us with their babies. The mothers have a packed schedule and they need support and a strong community of women who will walk alongside them and provide childcare support for them.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Managing and monitoring the safety of children
• Providing basic care such as feeding, diapering, and helping with hygiene
• Maintaining a clean and fun environment for the children

Purpose

I Corinthians 14:40 says, “Let all things be done decently and in order”- The Charis Centre office needs a receptionist to support the staff team and residents with clerical tasks. Our program is looking for willing individuals who can perform this job and who can offer a few hours of their time.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide support and assistance to the staff and residents. 
• Act as receptionist; answer the phone, greet, and direct visitors, take messages, and provide information. 
• Maintain and file all confidential student records and cumulative folders – keeps up to date, in physical and digital format. 
• Photocopy materials for administrative purposes.

• Knowledge of office equipment and proficiency in MS Office  
• Organizational and interpersonal skills 

Purpose

The kitchen helper position is a key part of our food program that provides food to the women in our programs. The helper assists the cook in preparing meals for our residents, staff, and other volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Food preparation (making salads, chopping vegetables, etc.)
• Plate and serve food
• Help sort food donations
• Keep counter surfaces clean
• Sweep and mop the kitchen

• Ability to work well with other volunteers

Purpose

The maintenance helper position helps ensure all the areas at the Charis Centre are clean and functioning as intended. The maintenance helper will assist the maintenance manager with regular tasks, projects, and odd jobs as they come up.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Building projects
• Pick up debris and trash
• Rake leaves and debris
• Inspect  for any graffiti
• Empty Garbage cans
• Sweep floors
• Mop floors
