Volunteering Opportunities

Roving Ranger

Work alongside our Park Ranger and community gardeners and support them with their day to day tasks across the city. Rather than being focused on one park, you'll report to our Heaton depot in the morning and travel to whichever of the parks and countryside sites need them the most.

This is an incredible chance to gain environmental experience and training in various practical tasks.

Roving Rangers come out with us for a full day (8:30am-4pm), usually for at least one day per month. We have weekend and weekday availability.

Community Gardener

Join our community gardeners in tending to flowerbeds, orchards and wildflowers and wildflower meadows.

We run regular 2-3 hour sessions throughout the parks on weekdays and weekends.

All you need to be is over 18 and have a willingness to work outside and an enthusiasm for your local parks.

These sessions happen every week in Exhibition Park on Monday mornings and Leazes Park on Wednesday morning.

Ranger-led Park Maintenece

Join our rangers and fellow volunteers in undertaking a range of gardening, habitat management and general maintenance tasks across your parks and green spaces.

We run regular 2-3 hour sessions throughout the parks on weekdays and weekends.

All you need to be is over 18 and have a willingness to work outside and an enthusiasm for your local parks.
