Please note: interviews will take place seasonally, based on program needs. Recruitment for the PoCo Youth Crew will typically take place each August and December.

Step 1: Review Eligibility

To apply to be a member of the PoCo Youth Crew, you must be:

  • 14 years or older
  • Eligible to volunteer in Canada (check your travel documents, if applicable)

Step 2: Apply

  • Fill in an application
  • Attend an interview
  • Submit 2 references
  • Complete a Police Information Check
Step 3: Getting Started
  • All volunteers must complete a Volunteer Orientation. Some positions may require additional training prior to their first shift. Your Volunteer Orientation will include an introduction to your Volunteer Supervisor and the facility in which you’ll be volunteering.
  • Following your Volunteer Orientation, you will officially be a member of the PoCo Youth Crew and you will be able to attend weekly meetings and sign up for volunteer opportunities using MyVolunteerPage.
  • This process can take up to 6 weeks, so we appreciate your patience and understanding.

Volunteer Opportunities

PoCo Youth Crew

The PoCo Youth Crew is a youth-led leadership team that strives to make positive changes in the community by assisting in developing community events and outreach initiatives and supporting community events and out trip activities focused on making a difference. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership and communication skills while creating and implementing programs and projects.


  • 14 to 18 years of age
  • Previous leadership experience is an asset
  • Dependable, trustworthy and accountable
  • Respect for self, others, and work environment
  • Knowledge of children’s games and activities is an asset for some events
  • Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)

Seasons: Winter, Spring, Fall


PoCo Youth Crew meets every Tuesday from 4:00pm to 5:00pm at the Hyde Away Youth Centre at Hyde Creek.

Orientations for volunteers looking to join the PoCo Youth Crew will be held seasonally. E-mail to find out when the next Volunteer Orientation will be coming up.

PoCo Youth Crew is a youth-led leadership program for youth ages 13-17. Work together to make positive change in your community while developing your leadership skills. Help create community and global legacy projects and get volunteer hours for graduation.
