Volunteers play an important role in our Recreation programs and events. For information about the types of opportunities available in this area, check out the Volunteer Opportunities below.

Our PYLG program is based out of:

The PYLG is a good fit for people who are:

  • 14-18 (Grades 9-12)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Available Tuesdays from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm and occasional evening/weekend events
  • Interested in developing their leadership and communication skills alongside giving back to their community

Are you a youth ages 13-18 looking for volunteer opportunities? Check out one of our other great program areas, such as Children Services, Arts & Culture programs, or Events.

Applying to Volunteer:

  • Fill in an application 
  • Sign up for and attend an interview
  • Complete and submit a Criminal Record Check
  • Review the Volunteer Handbook and submit a Volunteer Agreement Form
  • Sign up for and attend a Volunteer Orientation

Volunteer opportunities are posted seasonally in line with the City's Leisure Guide.

Volunteer Opportunities

PoCo Youth Leadership Group

The PoCo Youth Leadership Group is a youth-led leadership team that strives to make positive changes in the community by assisting in developing community events and outreach initiatives and supporting community events and out trip activities focused on making a difference. This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership and communication skills while creating and implementing programs and projects.

Requirements:

  • 14 to 18 years of age
  • Previous leadership experience is an asset
  • Dependable, trustworthy and accountable
  • Respect for self, others, and work environment
  • Knowledge of children’s games and activities is an asset for some events
  • Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
