Volunteers play an important role in our Recreation programs and events. For information about the types of opportunities available in this area, check out the Volunteer Opportunities below.
Our Arts & Culture programs are based out of:
- Leigh Square Community Arts Village
- Port Coquitlam Community Centre
- City Parks, particularly Lions Park
Volunteer opportunities in Arts & Culture are typically a good fit for people who are:
- 14+ years of age
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Available weekday afternoons, Saturday mornings, or during non-instructional days (e.g. Spring and Summer Break)
- Interested in the Arts
- Enjoy working with children and families

- Sign up for and attend an interview
- Complete and submit a Criminal Record Check
- Review the Volunteer Handbook and submit a Volunteer Agreement Form
- Sign up for and attend a Volunteer Orientation

Volunteer Opportunities
Children's Art Camps

Assist in delivering high-quality Art Camps for children ages 5.5 - 12. Opportunities are available throughout the year based on School District 43 breaks, including Pro D Days, Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break. This is a great opportunity to build leadership skills and learn more about the Arts.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of age
- Experience working with children an asset
- Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
Public Art Engagement

Support local artists and City staff in the creation and activation of public art. Roles may include assisting artists with the creation of public art, engaging community participants in public art activities, or providing information to visitors about a public art piece or activity.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of age
- Interested in the Arts
- Customer service experience an asset
- Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
Family Art Assistant

Help families make art together in a free-flowing, creative studio. Each week, the class will explore a different theme using a variety of materials. Volunteers may assist Recreation staff with setting up supplies and materials, providing guidance and support, and helping to keep younger family members engaged.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 15 years of age
- Experience working with children an asset
- Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
Seasons: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
Children's Art Programs

Help to create high-quality arts and cultural programs for children and participants of all ages and abilities. Support in our children’s art programs for children ages 5.5 – 12, including and Cool Clay Class and Cool Clay Structures. Programs typically take place after school hours or on weekends and are an excellent opportunity to build leadership skills and learn more about the Arts.

- Experience working with children an asset
- Fluent in spoken English (fluency in a second language is an asset)
