Welcome - Please join our Volunteer Team

BCIMS is a non-profit volunteer organization that runs mostly through the efforts of community members. We seek to integrate mindfulness and the Dharma into our volunteer work, and we see volunteering as as an opportunity to practice with like-minded people.

If you have attended sitting groups or retreats, please consider extending your practice by volunteering. As a valued volunteer, you will attend Short Non-Residential retreats free of charge and connect with teachers and other volunteers. You will be invited to volunteer events and activities and experience the positive benefits which come from working with other dedicated people in service of the dharma. This is a wonderful way to meet people in our community.

Please complete the application by clicking on the blue button to the right. There will be a brief interview where more detailed information will be provided. Once your application has been accepted, you will be invited to choose the role(s) which fits your skill set and volunteer at a time which best suits your schedule.

BCIMS is planning a number of BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ retreats in 2023. We encourage members of our sangha who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, other People of Colour) or LGBTQIA2S+ to apply as volunteers for these activities.

Please note that for in-person retreats, all BC Health Regulations will be strictly followed. Each participant will be required to be double vaccinated and be prepared to provide proof of vaccination ahead of the event, and restrictions regarding large gatherings and social distancing will be adhered to. Mission Statement

BCIMS aims to be a meeting place for anyone interested in learning more about the liberating teachings of the Buddha, in furthering their meditation practice and in living their realization of the dharma.

Our aim is to provide access to the dharma at any level of interest, addressing both depth of practice and integration of dharma into life and community. We believe the dharma is for anyone who is interested and welcome everyone regardless of gender, race, class, sexual orientation, disability or age.
