At Gilda's Club Minnesota, we offer a range of volunteer opportunities, some of which are open to all, including our active members, while others may be more suitable depending on individual circumstances. Certain roles involve confidential or sensitive material and are not recommended for active members currently receiving support. Join our Gala Committee and help plan Gilda's Club Minnesota’s biggest fundraising event of the year! This vital committee meets monthly, then bi-monthly, and eventually weekly as the event approaches. Members will assist in organizing event logistics, securing sponsorships, coordinating auction items, and ensuring the event runs smoothly. Your participation culminates in supporting the event on the day of, making a significant impact on our fundraising efforts. This is a great opportunity to use your skills while giving back to a meaningful cause!
Currently, meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month at 3 pm.

Position Overview:
Community Ambassadors will assist in representing GCMN at community events. This individual will share the GCMN mission at 3rd party and community partnership events such as 5Ks, cancer conferences, health fairs, and volunteer fairs.
These volunteers may interact with potential members, volunteers, and donors.

This key volunteer will be integral to the Gilda’s Club Minnesota community engagement work. As such, she/he/they will have the chance to develop relationships with fellow community ambassadors and community partners and to work with other committed volunteers to create awareness of GCMN and our support program.
TRAINING: There is the potential to be at an event along with a staff member or experienced volunteer. This may not always be possible.

A Gilda Greeter is often the first person someone with cancer or their family members talks to at Gilda's Club Minnesota. They are the first impression of our program. Gilda Greeters welcome members into the clubhouse, manage light administrative tasks, tidy the clubhouse, and occasionally do other tasks.
These positions have shifts scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The shifts are released in 12-week periods, coinciding with each new calendar period (January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December).
Greeters can start at any time during each period.
Note: You MUST complete in-person Gilda Greeter training before signing up for a shift. Your shift will not be confirmed until the training is complete. Contact the Administrative and Volunteer Coordinator via email to talk about your interest in becoming a Gilda Greeter and find a time to complete the training.

Gilda’s Club is looking for experienced instructors who are willing to lead weekly, ongoing classes or a 6-12 week mini-series. Classes can be taught at the clubhouse in Minnetonka or online at our virtual clubhouse.
Exercise Instructor
Exercise instructors should be comfortable adapting exercise to accommodate the needs of individuals who are currently in cancer treatment, recovering from medical procedures, or transitioning into post-treatment.
Exercise could include functional exercise, dance/movement (belly dancing, NIA, Zumba), walking/running, resistance training, or any other fun ways of getting people moving and in touch with their bodies to build strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance. Some recent classes include qigong and tai chi.
Writing
Gilda's Club is seeking knowledgeable individuals with writing expertise to lead members in writing classes. These classes can focus on a variety of topics including creative writing, journaling, autobiographical, and poetry.
Wellness
Wellness instructors can lead classes on singing bowls, meditation, mindfulness, and more
Nutrition
Gilda’s Club is seeking knowledgeable individuals with expertise in nutrition to lead experiential cooking/nutrition classes. Previously, we have hosted experts with knowledge in oncology as well as more alternative approaches such as (ayurvedic, macrobiotic, plant-based, etc).
Calendars are set for three months: January through March, April through June, July through September, and October through December. The planning process begins shortly after a new calendar is released.

Gilda's Club Minnesota is looking for volunteers to lead socials both in the clubhouse and virtually. Our current socials include making and serving food to members, bird watching, knitting and crocheting, and more.

Support Gilda's Club Minnesota by volunteering at an event. Opportunities may include set-up, check-in, tear-down, and other relevant tasks.
These opportunities are typically not within the Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. workday.
Annual events include our annual fundraiser in April and the Walk for Gilda's in the fall.

A Gilda Greeter is often the first person someone with cancer or their family members talks to at Gilda's Club Minnesota. They are the first impression of our program. Gilda Greeters welcome people into the clubhouse, sign in members for groups and classes, answer the phone, tidy the clubhouse, and occasionally do other tasks. This is a fairly laid-back position. You may have time to read, do a light craft, or complete homework while supporting the community.
Shifts are typically 2-4 hours long, based on program needs. Evening shifts are a high priority. We hope those trained for the opportunity will be able to volunteer at least twice each month.

Perhaps you have a skill that you’d like to share with members and would be open to teaching a one-time or ongoing class online, in the physical clubhouse, or in a hybrid format. We are looking for experienced individuals to lead writing, gratitude, mindfulness, Qigong, Tai Chi, and cooking classes.
Requirements: Instructors must have experience and/or certification related to their healthy lifestyle specialty. Instructors must be able to adapt the course to all levels of experience and abilities.
