Get Ready for a Life-Changing Volunteer Experience!
Requirements of our Onboarding Process
JourneyCare requires that all adult volunteers (age 16+ for CareCenter volunteers; age 18+ for all other volunteers) attend an orientation session that covers Hospice 101, Overview of JourneyCare, Our Services and How You Can Help, Customer Service, Patients’ Rights/HIPAA and Documentation. Applicants must get a 1 step tuberculosis (TB) test, provide two personal references (non-relatives) and submit to a background check, drug test and fingerprinting (paid for by JourneyCare). Please note that fingerprinting is an Illinois Department of Public Health requirement which requires a valid social security number. Applicants are required to submit clearance from a medical practitioner.

Innovative Services
We often see that art and music therapies, as well as treatments like Reiki, create peaceful days and moments of joy and delight for our patients. These volunteers channel their gifts by facilitating group or private sessions for patients in their home.
Our Innovative Services also include programs to support veterans as well as the Pet Peace of Mind Program, which will support the unique pet-related needs of our hospice patients.
