Meals On Wheels

Meals On Wheels

  • Our Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver hot meals to senior clients (55+) in the Dundas community. Delivery includes up to 10 stops to multiple single-family homes as well apartment buildings. Volunteers are required to report any issues or concerns to the program coordinator with a call and/or visit to the DCS office (e.g. client not home to receive meal). 
  • Weekday (Monday-Friday) delivery between 10:30am-12:30pm
  • Minimum 2 delivery shifts per month.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Provide proof of a valid G driver's license with minimum of $2 million in liability insurance. 
  • Must have access to a reliable, clean (interior), and insured vehicle. Proof of insurance is required. 
  • Ability to safely lift up to 20 pounds and carry a cooler bag filled with meals. 
  • Proof of current (within the last six weeks) and clear Vulnerable Person's Sector Check. 

Assisted Transportation

Assisted Transportation

  • Our Assisted Transportation volunteers provide senior clients (55+) with transportation to/from medical appointments and local grocery shopping in the greater Hamilton area. Volunteers are required to report any issues or concerns to the program coordinator with a call to the DCS office (e.g. client not home to be picked up for a drive). Volunteers are also required to submit their mileage via Better Impact for reimbursement.  
  • Minimum 2 drives per month.
  • Must be a minimum of 25 years old.
  • Provide proof of a valid G driver's license with minimum of $2 million in liability insurance. 
  • Must have access to a reliable, clean (interior), and insured vehicle. Proof of insurance is required. 
  • Ability to safely lift up to 20 pounds and assist clients with loading and unloading their walker if necessary.
  • Proof of current (within the last six weeks) and clear Vulnerable Person's Sector Check. 

Friendly Calling

Friendly Calling

  • Calling senior clients on pre- determined schedule
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Keeping records of calls and reporting to Program Coordinator
  • Reporting on concerns or changes in clients' status/health
  • Must be 18+

Friendly Visiting

Friendly Visiting

  • Visiting with senior clients in their own homes or in community
  • Commit to one visit per week
  • Minimum 6-month commitment
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Keeping and reporting on record of hours 
  • Report concerns/changes in clients' status/health
  • Must be 18+

Frozen Meals

Frozen Meals 

  • Our Frozen Meals volunteers sort and/or deliver frozen meals to senior clients (55+) in the Dundas community. Sorting includes 2 hours of receiving, sorting, bagging and tagging meals at the DCS office. Delivery includes up to 10 stops to multiple single-family homes as well apartment buildings. Volunteers are also required to report any issues or concerns to the program coordinator with a call and/or visit to the DCS office (e.g. client not home to receive meal).
  • Wednesday meal sorting at the DCS office between 9:00am-11:00am 
  • Wednesday meal delivery between 11:00am-1:00pm 
  • Minimum 2 delivery shifts per month or 2 sorting shifts per month.  
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Provide proof of a valid G driver's license with minimum of $2 million in liability insurance. 
  • Must have access to a reliable, clean (interior), and insured vehicle. Proof of insurance is required. 
  • Ability to safely lift up to 30 pounds and carry a cooler bag filled with meals. 
  • Proof of current (within the last six weeks) and clear Vulnerable Person's Sector Check.
