Walk A Mile In My Boots is back for 2026!

We rely on the generous support of our volunteer team to help achieve the success of this event each year. Whether this is your seventeenth time or your first, we'd love to have you join us.

Since 2009, the South Australian community has come together every August, during National Homelessness Week, to take part in Walk a Mile in My Boots. It's an opportunity to step out and raise vital funds to support people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

Registrations for Hutt St Centre's 2026 Walk a Mile in My Boots challenge open in early June. The challenge is open to everyone, and all registered participants will be invited to attend our community event – The Final Mile – on Friday 7 August 2026.

We are looking for passionate, proactive members of the community to join our volunteer team. 

 

Expressions of Interest for volunteers are will open soon, please check back with us soon or email volunteering@huttstcentre.org.au to register interest early.

 

 When do we need you?

 

  • Event Set Up: Thursday 6 August (shifts available from 9am to 2pm)

 

  • Event Day: Friday 7 August (shifts available from 6am to 10am)

 

  • Pre and Post Event Support: We are also seeking support in the weeks before and after the event for a variety of activities including a Community Letterbox Drop, hanging signs, packing equipment boxes, merchandise collection support, thank you calls etc

 

There will also be a Volunteer Briefing that we recommend all volunteers attend.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email volunteering@huttstcentre.org.au and let us know your availability and what aspects of the event you'd like to get involved in. 

 

To volunteer for this event, you will not be required to submit any clearances, however we will send you our Spontaneous Volunteer Form to sign.
