Lighthouse Crew - A Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project initiative

About the Lighthouse Crew

Since 2014, the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project has relied on the support and contributions of our community, which has been instrumental in helping to achieve better outcomes for young people in the Greater Shepparton region.

Based on our learnings since inception, the Lighthouse team has decided it's time for a new, user-friendly approach to engaging community goodwill. So, we've established the Lighthouse Crew! We welcome community members who want to help deliver better outcomes for our young people. Crew members may include:

  • Businesses that wish to donate resources or offer industry tours for students;
  • Individuals wanting to volunteer at OLLY, help out with reading or breakfast programs, assist at the Family Haven, or teach hands-on skills at Pit Stop;
  • Community members wanting to donate toys, bikes, scooters, and other goods or wanting to support our fundraising campaigns.

To ensure we are able to effectively connect and communicate with Crew members, we've activated the My Impact app. Click on the 'Fill in an application' button at the top-right of this page to access the app and register.

We are seeking Crew members for the following opportunities:

Family Haven

The Family Haven in Mooroopna provides a welcoming space where parents, carers and children can relax. Staff and volunteers provide the opportunity to share a meal, connect with other parents and provide referrals where needed.

The Family Haven is open Tuesday-Thursdays from 10am-2pm and is located at 16 Young Street, Mooroopna.

Pitstop Program

Pit Stop is a strengths-based re-engagement program offering young people the opportunity to work on small engines and cars under the guidance of volunteer industry professionals.

Pit Stop aims to increase work and life skills, improve mental health and increase connection for young people within the community whilst better connecting them to opportunities through the bridging of social capital. This community initiative will also work with at-risk young people as an early intervention model to re-engage them at school.
