Shifts vary dependent on individual or group availability, but generally take place:
Monday through Sunday, mornings (10:45am) or afternoon (3:30pm).
To provide companionship support to families and friends as well as aid in welcoming, directing, assisting and escorting patients who use the services provided in this area. People often have a difficult time finding their way around the hospital. This can be a frustrating, frightening experience and adds to the stress level of the patient which can be detrimental to their health.
-Deliver gifts and flowers to patients.
-Return wheelchairs to labeled units, and assist with getting patients to their desired area.
Shift times: Monday to Friday 8:00 - 11:30 am and 11:30 am to 3:00 pm ( based on vacancies).
Recreation Associate's play a key role in creating a vibrant and engaging environment for residents. Working alongside long-term care staff, you will help facilitate a variety of activities that promote social connection, mental stimulation, and overall well-being.
Activities include but aren't limited to: games, crafts, baking, reading, exercise, spa services, special outings and one-on-one social visits.
Flexible shifts vary from individual to group and are based off of the monthly activity calendar.
The Serenity Garden Provider brings joy and beauty to the facility and its residents. They will share their talents in gardening and improve the resident's outdoor experience. Volunteer's will care for the outdoor flower space during the spring/summer/ fall season.
Duties may include: Planting flowers, watering, transplanting plants, weeding, trimming/pruning plants as required, and maintaining the tidiness of the garden area.
Gift Shop Volunteers contribute to a facility’s healing culture and provide a service to patients, staff and the public in order to raise funds to purchase equipment.
Volunteers greet and welcome visitors to the Gift Shop, assist with sales, light cleaning duties, and other tasks as required.
Qualifications:
Mornings and afternoon times available. Shifts generally are 9:00AM-1:00PM and 1:00PM-5:00PM
Animals have been found to benefit people socially, psychologically, and physiologically. The goals of pet visitation programs are to provide opportunities for patients to reach and maintain their optimal level of physical and mental functioning; to maintain or re-establish interests, social contacts and dignity, to alleviate anxiety and redirect attention from their own condition and try to provide an outlet for emotion; and to provide structured, meaningful daily activity.
All dogs are to be certified and temperament tested by a Certified Pet Dog Trainer or by St. John’s Ambulance. They will be placed in areas according to their certification level.
Vaccinations are to be up to date prior to first animal visit o Handlers must complete all required Sask. Health Authority Registered Volunteer processes

Meals on Wheels Volunteers deliver nutritious meals to clients assessed as needing support with nutrition.
Personal accomplishment, develop and enhance communication skills, learn new job skills & obtain a work routine, being involved & giving back to community.
Volunteer picks up meals at given time from the outlet and delivers to client in their home.
Shifts vary, delivery over lunch time hours.
-Provide volunteer with a sense of fulfilment by giving back to clients who experienced a similar events in their lives.
-Involve setup/take down of chairs. Welcome clients to the facility, and act as a connection vector if clients have questions or needs of the RN or Exercise Therapist
Animals have been shown to benefit people mentally, socially and physically. The goal of the Pet Visitation Program is to offer residents an opportunity to maintain or rebuild interests, social connections, and a sense of dignity. It also aims to reduce anxiety, shift focus away from their conditions, and provide an emotional outlet. Additionally, the program offers a structured and a meaningful activity.

Volunteers are to provide pet visitation only and not utilize therapy dogs as “tools” for therapy.
Volunteen program is for a qualified teenage volunteer who has been trained to give supplemental assistance to patients. They assist with unit/ward routines and other services directed by the nursing staff.
Indirect Services
Filling water jugs for patients, and returning wheelchairs to appropriate departments.
Shifts available Monday - Friday evenings
This activity take place in various communities and facilities in the Moose Jaw area, Rouleau, Avonlea, Briercrest, Chaplin, Craik, Eyebrow, Elbow, Mortlach, Riverhurst.
Volunteers provide a comfortable and supportive environment for people attending the wellness clinic. -Greet and assist clients with wayfinding, and to promote the clinic. -Give clients friendly reminders to book future appointments when they arrive. -Giving reminders to new clients about bringing in their health cards and lists of medications. -Maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of each client that attends.
Shift times are 3-5 hours in the mornings.
Recreation Associate's help with various activities at the site and play a key role in creating an engaging environment for the residents. They are the extra pair of "helping hands" that assist the long-term care staff, working together to promote social connection, mental stimulation and overall well-being.
Activities include, but are not limited to: Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties, and volunteer group outings.
Shifts will vary depending on the scheduling of activities.
To assist with safe and reliable child minding located at the site where caregivers are attending programming.
Ideal candidates should have experience working at a licensed day care facility.
Opportunities exist Monday - Friday morning and afternoon.
Immunization Ambassadors : Various location
To greet clients, assist with traffic flow in clinic, and handout pamphlets and other items as requested
Clinics being held in :
Point of contact for patients seeking Lab, Therapies, or Dialysis services by greeting and assisting them in the common waiting room. They would direct patients to appropriate service area to avoid confusion and improve patient experience
Shifts available Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 2:30 pm

Volunteers offer 1:1 visiting, and deliver comfort items to patients' and families. They will communicate with the Palliative Care Coordinator for connection with additional supports.
Potential Volunteers must complete the Palliative Care Training per the Palliative Care Coordinator. Volunteers must be comfortable with patients at the end of life and have the ability to function in an emotionally stressful environment. Must be comfortable in a healthcare setting, accepting and open minded.
The Palliative Care Coordinator will provide Palliative Care Training, review the roles of the volunteer, boundaries, dying process and on-site orientation.
Shifts will vary depending on clients needs.
