Ongoing volunteer opportunity.
Days/Times: Monday through Sunday. Mornings (10:45am). Afternoon (3:30pm).
To provide companionship support to families and friends as well as aid in welcoming, directing, Assisting and escorting patients who use the services provided in this area. People often have a difficult time finding their way around the hospital. This can be a frustrating, frightening experience and adds to the stress level of the patient which can be detrimental to their health. -Deliver gifts and flowers to patients. -Bring wheelchairs to Admitting, and porter if required. -Help deliver paperwork when tube system is down.
Shift times: Monday to Friday 8:00 - 11:30 am and 11:30 am to 3:00 pm ( based on vacancies)
The Horticulture Associate will be able to bring joy to residents. They will share talents in garden, visit with elders of the community and improve the resident's outdoor experience
They assist residents in caring for the outdoor space we have during our Spring/summer/ fall season.
Duties may include: Watering, feed, transplant plants, weed plant beds, trim/prune plants as required, maintain tidiness in garden area.
Gift Shop Volunteers contribute to a facility’s healing culture and provide a service to patients, staff and the public in order to raise funds to purchase equipment.
Volunteers greet and welcome visitors to the Gift Shop, assist with sales, light cleaning duties, and other tasks as required.
Qualifications:

Animals have been found to benefit people socially, psychologically, and physiologically. The goals of pet visitation programs are to provide opportunities for patients to reach and maintain their optimal level of physical and mental functioning; to maintain or re-establish interests, social contacts and dignity, to alleviate anxiety and redirect attention from their own condition and try to provide an outlet for emotion; and to provide structured, meaningful daily activity.
All dogs are to be certified and temperament tested by a Certified Pet Dog Trainer or by St. John’s Ambulance. They will be placed in areas according to their certification level.
Vaccinations are to be up to date prior to first animal visit o Handlers must complete all required SaskHA Registered Volunteer processes

A willingness to comply with SaskHA policies and procedures
Volunteers are to provide pet visitation only and not utilize therapy dogs as “tools” for therapy.
Volunteers must follow SaskHA hand hygiene protocols and infection control procedures
Volunteers must maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
Volunteers must follow SaskHA policies and procedures
Meals on Wheels Volunteers deliver nutritious meals to clients assessed as needing support with nutrition.
Personal accomplishment, develop and enhance communication skills, learn new job skills & obtain a work routine, being involved & giving back to community.
Volunteer picks up meals at given time from the outlet and delivers to client in their home.
Shifts vary, delivery over lunch time hours.

Provide volunteer with a sense of fulfillment by giving back to clients who experienced a similiar events in their lives. -Involve setup/take down of chairs. Welcome clients to the facility, and act as a connection vector if clients have questions or needs of the RN or Exercise Therapist

Volunteen program is for a qualified teenage volunteer who has been trained to give supplemental assistance to patients. They assist with unit/ward routines and other services directed by the nursing staff. -Indirect Services-
Filling water jugs for patients, and returning wheelchairs to appropriate departments.
-Messenger services-Delivering flowers or mail from switchboard to the patients units, and running errands from the Gift Shop for patients.
Shifts available Monday - Friday evenings
This activity take place in various communities and facilities in the Moose Jaw area, Rouleau, Avonlea, Briercrest, Chaplin, Craik, Eyebrow, Elbow, Mortlach, Riverhurst.
Volunteers provide a comfortable and supportive environment for people attending the wellness clinic. -Greet and assist clients with wayfinding, and to promote the clinic. -Give clients friendly reminders to book future appointments when they arrive. -Giving reminders to new clients about bringing in their health cards and lists of medications. -Maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of each client that attends.
Shift times are 3-5 hours in the mornings.
The Recreation Associate assists with various activities at the site. They encourage client's participation in activities.
Recreation Associate are the extra pair of "helping hands" that add to the trained services of the Long-term care facility staff, working together to enhance the lives of residents
Activities include, but are not limited to: Reading groups, puzzles, games, bingo, nail painting, going for walks, group painting, crafts, exercise programs, and special events like Christmas parties and teas. Birthday parties, volunteer group outings.
Shifts will vary depending on the scheduling of activities
Immunization Ambassadors : Various location
To greet clients, assist with traffic flow in clinic, and handout pamphlets and other items as requested
Clinics being held in :
-Point of contact for patients seeking Lab, Therapies, or Dialysis services by greeting and assisting them in the common waiting room. They would direct patients to appropriate service area to avoid confusion and improve patient experience
