Moose Jaw Pioneer Lodge Pet Visitation Associate

Animals have been shown to benefit people mentally, socially and physically.  The goal of the Pet Visitation Program is to offer residents an opportunity to maintain or rebuild interests, social connections, and a sense of dignity. It also aims to reduce anxiety, shift focus away from their conditions, and provide an emotional outlet. Additionally, the program offers a structured and a meaningful activity.

All dogs are to be certified and temperament tested by a Certified Dog Trainer or by St. John’s Ambulance. Vaccinations must be up to date prior to the first animal visit and handlers must complete the registered volunteer processes.

Volunteers are to provide pet visitation only and not utilize therapy dogs as “tools” for therapy.
