Event Volunteer Job Description 

Goals of Position Statement

As an Event Volunteer, you'll play a key role in making Hero’s Bridge events a meaningful and memorable experience for our community and the veterans we serve. Your support helps raise awareness, build relationships, and create an environment of gratitude and connection for our aging heroes.

Our Events Volunteers help make it all happen, whether it's setting the stage, welcoming guests, or packing up with a smile. Thanks to their efforts, Hero’s Bridge has hosted successful community events, fundraisers, and celebrations that directly support elderly veterans and raise awareness about their unique needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet and direct event guests with enthusiasm and warmth
• Assist with setup and breakdown of event materials and spaces
• Provide information about Hero’s Bridge services and programs
• Support event logistics like registration, parking, or refreshments
• Serve as an ambassador for our mission during community interactions
• Document volunteer hours and mileage in MyImpact

Time Requirements

• Time: Depends on role and event type
• Frequency: As needed – volunteers will be notified of upcoming events via Volunteer Newsletter
• Volunteers may choose one-time or ongoing participation

Location

Event locations vary but are typically held in Fauquier County or surrounding areas. Most roles are in-person, with some opportunities for light prep or support done remotely before the event.

Work Environment

Events are held both indoors and outdoors, often in community centers, parks, or event venues. Volunteers should be comfortable standing, walking, or light lifting (up to 15 lbs.). All necessary supplies and equipment will be provided.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential:
• Friendly
• Willingness to help and take initiative
• Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team

Desirable:
• Experience in events or customer service
• Interest in veteran-related causes
• Comfort interacting with elderly individuals

No prior military experience is required 

Orientation & Training

All volunteers are required to complete an orientation session through MyImpact before beginning their role, along with a background check. Ongoing support and continuing education opportunities will be available throughout the year to foster volunteer growth, confidence, and engagement.

Supervision

Volunteers report to the Events Coordinator or a designated Hero’s Bridge staff member during the event.
