JPCH -Pediatric Inpatient Recreation Volunteer (18+)
The Pediatric Recreation volunteer provides recreational activities and comfort to hospitalized children ranging from newborns to 17 years old. Under the supervision of recreation and nursing staff, volunteers may visit children and families in their rooms, read books, color, and engage in play with toys or video games. Volunteers also spend some time in their shift cleaning toys and the playroom if required.
Pediatric volunteers must possess excellent communication skills, have experience working with children, and be able to work independently. They play a supportive role in caring for sick children and their families, and most importantly, let kids be kids.
Applicants should be willing to commit to a weekly shift for at least six months.
