Gilda Greeters
A Gilda Greeter is often the first person someone with cancer or their family members talks to at Gilda's Club Minnesota. They are the first impression of our program. Gilda Greeters welcome people into the clubhouse, sign in members for groups and classes, answer the phone, tidy the clubhouse, and occasionally do other tasks. This is a fairly laid-back position. You may have time to read, do a light craft, or complete homework while supporting the community.
Shifts are typically 2-4 hours long, based on program needs. Evening shifts are a high priority. We hope those trained for the opportunity will be able to volunteer at least twice each month.
These positions have shifts scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The shifts are released in 12-week periods, coinciding with each new calendar period (January-March, April-June, July-September, October-December).
Greeters can start at any time during each period.
View the current calendar for Gilda Greeters. This calendar shows in-person classes and groups for Gilda Greeters to reference. It also includes Virtual Gentle Yoga on Monday mornings, as that greeter welcomes and signs those members in.
Note: You MUST complete in-person Gilda Greeter training before signing up for a shift. Your shift will not be confirmed until the training is complete. Contact the Administrative and Volunteer Coordinator via email to discuss your interest in becoming a Gilda Greeter and find a time to complete the training.
This position is not suitable for active members.
*This opportunity may involve handling confidential or sensitive material, so it is not suitable for currently active Gilda's Club members. We encourage you to explore other opportunities that are open to active members and welcome your involvement in ways that prioritize your well-being.
