General Interests
Music Volunteer
We are looking for Music Volunteers who can help bring joy, connection, and creativity through music to our service users, carers, volunteers, and staff.
Whether it's a one-off performance at a Trust event or regular musical sessions on one of our wards, your contribution can make a real difference to the wellbeing and experience of those we support.
You don’t need to be a professional musician — just someone passionate about music and its power to uplift, soothe, and engage.
Admin Support Volunteer
Are you organised, creative, and passionate about making a difference behind the scenes? Join us as a Admin Support Volunteer and help bring our Trust’s work to life — one message, poster, and project at a time!
This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved with teams like Communications, HR, and wider corporate services, contributing to everything from social media and internal campaigns to supporting events and key admin tasks.
Whether you’re looking to build experience in a professional environment or want to use your skills to support mental health and wellbeing services — we’d love to hear from you!
Meet & Greet Volunteer
For many of our service users, coming into hospital can be a daunting experience that can easily lead to confusion. By greeting them with a warm smile and offering your help with directions or any questions they may have, you can make all the difference in their trip.
You'll be introducing visitors into the hospital, providing directions and accompanying them to their destinations.
Befriender (18+ Only)
As a Befriender, you'll be working long-term with those who are in our wards for extended periods who can often feel isolated. You'll be listening to, chatting with or playing games with those who might want some company.
This role will require you to have good active listening skills as well as the ability to make a regular commitment to travelling to and attending our wards across Hertfordshire.
Check-in & Chat Volunteer (18+ Only)
Help us make a real difference by reducing loneliness and supporting wellbeing. As a Check-In-&-Chat volunteer, you’ll provide short-term telephone support to individuals who may feel isolated or low in mood. Your role involves:
- Making regular friendly calls to offer a listening ear and emotional reassurance
- Encouraging conversation about hobbies, interests, and daily life
- Signposting non-urgent queries to the right services (no advice-giving)
- Recording call outcomes and escalating any concerns promptly
- Building rapport over time to help service users feel connected
You’ll receive training and ongoing support, and your commitment will help people feel less alone and more engaged with their community.
Pets as Therapy
Bringing in your pet to visit service users and relatives on our wards is a great way to bring a lot of joy and excitement to those who need it most. If your pet loves to spend time with new people and you are able to travel to any of our locations this is a brilliant way to help out.
Please note: Your pet will need to be registered with the "Pets as Therapy" charity. Pets As Therapy | Home
