Dogs - Young Puppy Trainer

[in home dog care]

Take care of a young puppy in your home!

Young puppy trainers raise, house, and provide basic socialization and training for EENP pups from two months of age until they enter training in prison at 5-8 months old.

EENP provides training support, supplies, vet care, and backup care when you are on vacation.

Young puppy trainers must attend a weekly class at EENP with their pup, transport pup to EENP 3x/week (9 am to 4 pm) for eight weeks, and work toward training goals such as housebreaking and crate training. We will support you in reaching those goals!

If you're ready to move forward now, you can apply online at eenp.org/young-puppy-trainers.

There are a few extra steps to get ready to care for an EENP dog in your home:

  • You’ll need to fill out an extra agreement (Canine Volunteer Agreement).
  • You’ll need to learn our expectations around Canine Care and Safety (CC&S) and pass a quiz every four months.
  • You can care for EENP dogs even if you have other adult dogs in your home, after they have been approved by EENP – our goal is to be sure your pup is happy with our pups in the home! Ask for a pet dog assessment.
