General Interests

MOW - Food packager

Volunteer is needed to package meals into plastic containers, this contains serving main entrée with 1 or 2 sides. Volunteer will package, seal and label containers, then placed in proper freezer. Sweep, mop, wipe down and sanitized designated work area. May require some dishwashing and disposal of trash.

OMB - Volunteer Ombudsman

Volunteer Ombudsman representatives are guided through the path of Ombudsman Certification.  Once certified you will be promoted to a Certified Volunteer Ombudsman.  Please note that the process of becoming a volunteer may take some time but being an advocate for residents will be worth the investment.

A Certified Volunteer Ombudsman will provide invaluable advocacy with and for residents in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other types of residential facilities in their local communities.  Certified Ombudsman representatives are trained to visit residents at an assigned facility, provide information about their rights, assist them (upon their request) with their complaints, and submit reports reflecting their activities and case work.

What would you do?

    • Receive comprehensive training and on-site mentoring with the long-term care ombudsman to receive formal designation
    • Participate in peer learning by sharing case reviews and discussing strategies 
    • Identify and report concerns or issues to ensure that residents receive appropriate care and are satisfied

MOW - Driver

Delivers meals to the homebound and congregate meals to Senior Centers when needed. Follow designated route. Knowledge of using apple iPad device. Ability to lift 25-50lbs, this includes lifting meals which are in ice chest onto MOW Van. May require some dishwashing and disposal of trash.    

MOW - Kitchen Aide

Volunteer will work under direct Supervision of Lead Cook, duties will vary on a daily basis from making small sides, light baking and light chopping. Sides are portion into individual containers for proper distribution. Sides may also include individual sealing of rolls, buns, cookies and condiments. Sweep, mop, wipe down and sanitized designated work area. May require some dishwashing and disposal of trash. 

MOW - Dishwasher

Volunteer will wash dirty pots, pans, trays and any other cooking utensil as needed. All dishes are washed by hand. This will also include with unloading of supplies and stock food pantry. Sweep, mop, wipe down and sanitized designated work area. May require some dishwashing and disposal of trash. 

OMB - Certified Volunteer Ombudsman

A Certified Volunteer Ombudsman will provide invaluable advocacy with and for residents in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other types of residential facilities in their local communities.  Certified Ombudsman representatives are trained to visit residents at an assigned facility, provide information about their rights, assist them (upon their request) with their complaints, and submit reports reflecting their activities and case work.

Duties

  • Visit with residents, identifying complaints and concerns.
  • Monitor resident care, staffing and building condition.
  • Investigate complaints.
  • Work with facility staff to correct problems, using a continuum of problem resolution and advocacy skills.
  • Report all apparent cases of abuse as required by program policy and procedure.
  • Submit reports monthly.
  • Maintain communication with the Office of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
  • Promote respect and rapport between residents, facility staff and Ombudsman program.
  • Inform residents, families, and facility staff about resident rights.
  • Maintain confidentiality as required by law.

SHIP/SMP - Volunteer

A certified SHIP/SMP volunteer will provide eligibility screenings and application assistance for benefits and programs that help beneficiaries save money in their Medicare Supplemental Insurance.  Willing to learn complex Medicare, Medicaid and Medicare Supplemental Insurance coverage options.  Ability to work with individuals of various educational, cultural and social backgrounds.  Will volunteer under the supervision of the SHIP/SMP Coordinator.

Receptionist - Volunteer

Perform receptionist duties.  Greet and welcome in coming visitors/clients.  Answer and direct incoming calls and route appropriately.  Perform routine secretarial/clerical duties, type correspondence, envelopes, labels, etc. for agency programs.  Prepare materials for outgoing mailing, ensuring correct postage, sort and distribute incoming mail.  Have knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
