We have two great locations in Galveston County and many opportunities to help you serve your neighbors in need.
On Galveston Island, The Center of Hope located at 601 51st. Street houses an emergency overnight shelter and a Family Store. The shelter offers men, women and families a safe, clean place to spend the night and get a hot meal. A caseworker is available to assist with resources to help those who are willing to escape from homelessness. In the meantime, The Salvation Army meets their basic needs until they can get on their feet. Everyday at 5:00, a meal is served for the entire community and volunteers assist in that effort. Volunteers can also assist in the kitchen and the food pantry. In the Family Store, volunteers assist in sorting and preparing donations for sale. Money raised in the Family Store supports the programs of The Salvation Army of Galveston County.
In Texas City, The Moody Family Center for Worship and Service is located at 4801 E F Lowry Expressway. This location is expected to open in August 2020. It will house a Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club and offer rent and utility assistance to the community. Volunteer opportunities and requirements for this location will be defined and posted soon.
The Salvation Army is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. The mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need in His name without discrimination.
