Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with the Houston Botanic Garden. In general, at the Garden we offer volunteering opportunities seven days a week and in many different departments, including: Visitor Services, Horticulture, Education and Public Programs, and Marketing/Communications. Whether you are interested in getting your hands in the soil in the Garden or prefer working indoors, we have something for you.

All Call Group Volunteer Days

The Houston Botanic Garden hosts several "All Call" volunteer days with our Horticulture team each month, designed so that we can complete larger projects with a group of individuals. No background check or volunteer orientation is required to attend, as these events are open to the public. The only requirement is prior registration through Better Impact, and signing our liability waiver & publicity release form.

These group projects will include: hand weeding, mulching, planting, and general garden beautification, maintenance and other activities as needed.

Our Native Areas include aquatic gardens, stormwater wetlands, coastal prairie, a lagoon, and gardens with native plants.

Thank you so much for lending a hand to the Garden, we could not grow and thrive without you.

Orientations and Trainings

The Houston Botanic Garden’s commitment to each Volunteer includes providing a safe and healthy work environment, giving adequate training and orientation, and presenting a clear outline of volunteer duties.

We offer a monthly General Volunteer Orientation, that is the next step after a volunteer applies with our organization.

We also have begun training and orientation for volunteer Docents at the Garden.

Please click on the training or orientation type below to sign up for a date and time, and 'confirm' the shift so we know you are coming. Thank you!

Additional trainings working with Plant Records can be found under Horticulture - Plant Records.
