Parks & Forestry - Individual Volunteer Opportunities


Thank you for your interest in becoming a Mississauga Nature Steward! 

We will be accepting applications for our 2025 opportunities from April 7th – April 18th. Please fill in the application form and your entry will be processed by Forestry staff. Please check your email for next steps once your application has been processed.

Please read through the following volunteer opportunities we are offering this season. Note: all opportunities are for individual work only and will require you to complete the following trainings before you can begin volunteering:

2025 Opportunities

  1. Garlic Mustard Removal: Independently remove populations of Garlic Mustard in Mississauga’s parks and natural areas by hand pulling and bagging plants from May to mid-July.
  2. Burdock Removal: Independently cut and remove seed heads from Burdock plants in Mississauga’s parks and natural areas from May to mid-July.
  3. Invasive Groundcover Removal: Independently remove patches of English Ivy, Wintercreeper, and Periwinkle by hand pulling and bagging plants from mid-July to the end of September.
  4. Bindweed Removal: Independently remove Bindweed vines that are growing around newly planted trees and shrubs by handpulling the plants from mid-July to the end of September.

 

If you miss the application window for the 2025 season, you can apply during our fall application window between September 1st and September 12th  to get added to the waitlist for the 2026 season.
