We need a fun, creative face painter to join us as a volunteer and bring colourful smiles to walkers at Motor Neurone Disease QLD’s iconic Walk to Defeat MND Cairns on Sunday 7 June at McKenzie Street Parkland, Cairns. Your creativity will help make the day extra special - particularly for children and families attending the walk.

This annual event brings together the community to honour, remember, and support those affected by Motor Neurone Disease. As a valued MND volunteer you will share your creativity in a fun and meaningful environment and meet incredible people who share a passion for making a difference.

About the role

As a Volunteer Face Painter, you will help engage attendees by offering fun face painting throughout the event. Your role will support a positive, inclusive atmosphere and help make the walk an enjoyable experience for all ages.

When: Sunday 7th June

What Time: 7.30am to 12.30pm

Where: McKenzie Street Parkland, Esplanade, Cairns North

IMPORTANT EXTRA: You will need to come prepared for a day in the sun – wear comfortable, closed toed shoes, slip, slop, slap and bring a hat!

Please note: Volunteer Face Painters are required to hold a current Blue Card UNLESS they are under the age of 18.

You will be:

• Providing face painting for attendees during the event
• Creating fun, simple designs using supplied face paints and stencils
• Engaging warmly with children, families and community members
• Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic work area
• Following direction from the Event Coordinator as required

About you:

• You must hold a current Blue Card (required)
• You enjoy being creative and interacting with people
• Face painting experience is desirable but not required
• You are friendly and confident working in a public, family-friendly environment
• Comfortable taking direction and working collaboratively
• Reliable, punctual and able to complete a one-day volunteering commitment
• Passionate about helping others and making a positive impact

All face paints and stencils will be supplied by MND Queensland.

By volunteering your time and creativity, you’ll be helping MND Queensland raise vital funds and awareness to support people living with MND and their families. You’ll be part of a supportive, community-focused event and help create joyful moments on an important day.

Please note:

Our volunteer personal accident insurance requires volunteers to be at least 12 years old. Children aged 14 and under must attend with a parent.

Insurance coverage is provided up to age 75. Volunteers aged over 75 may still participate but should be aware that insurance coverage is limited.
