Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) Volunteer

The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) is an evidence-based delirium prevention program that enhances the hospital experience, supports rehabilitation and functional recovery, promotes improved cognitive and physical outcomes, and may contribute to shorter hospital stays. At St. Joseph’s Hospital, HELP reduces the risk of delirium by helping clients remain oriented to their surroundings, engaged in meaningful activities, and safely mobile in addition to participating in their prescribed rehabilitation program. The program also supports adequate nutrition and hydration, which are essential to recovery. By addressing key risk factors for delirium and other hospital-related complications, HELP contributes to better health outcomes and an improved recovery experience for the clients we serve.
