Program Description: SYA is a school-linked program that partners with schools across multiple communities to support students and their families in achieving their goals through wraparound services and life skills development. We work alongside families to strengthen their well-being, remove barriers, and provide individualized support that promotes academic achievement, personal growth, resilience, and long-term success.
Position Details: The Math tutor will provide academic support to high school students during the summer, with the possibility of continuing throughout the school year. Tutoring sessions will take place in a designated meeting space and will focus on helping students strengthen their math skills through individualized instructions and support.
Volunteers will provide academic support to students by helping them strengthen the knowledge and skills needed to successfully graduate from high school. They will also offer individualized assistance to students who wish to achieve higher levels of mathematics, providing one-on-one guidance to deepen their understanding of challenging concepts and build confidence in their abilities. This support will contribute immensely to students' academic achievement, personal growth, and acquire the skills needed to overcome challenges and pursue their educational and future career goals.
Qualifications:

Must be 18 or older

High school diploma

Must be able to commute regularly to volunteer site

Must pass extensive background check (DHS ORCHARDS/School District)

A strong grasp of mathematical concepts and communication skills (preferred)

Slavic languages speaking ability desired but not required (preferred)
