NEW BEGINNINGS MARKET - Household Donations Outreach Volunteer (Remote)
Program Description: The New Beginnings Market is IRCO's no-cost, one-stop-shop for our clients. The Market is proud to offer a wide variety of clothing items, furniture, kitchenware, decorative pieces, personal care supplies, and much more, free of charge to our clients.
Position Summary: The Household Donations Outreach Volunteer plays a vital role in supporting IRCO’s New Beginnings Market by remotely identifying and connecting with potential donors of household essentials, including furniture, kitchen items, bedding, and personal care products. This position involves leveraging personal social media accounts and online platforms like Craigslist and others to find donation opportunities. Volunteers work closely with the NBM team to coordinate donation details and schedule pickups, helping ensure that immigrant and refugee families have access to the essential items they need to establish safe and comfortable homes.
This volunteer role supports IRCO’s mission by remotely connecting with community members and organizations to secure donations of household essentials, including furniture, kitchenware, bedding, and personal care items. Volunteers use their own social media accounts, as well as platforms such as Craigslist and other online community boards, to identify potential donors, build relationships, and coordinate with the New Beginnings Market team to arrange donation pickups—ensuring that essential goods reach immigrant and refugee families in need.
Extended Opportunity: Volunteer Lead Volunteers may also choose to expand their role into a leadership position by serving as a liaison between donations volunteers and the Market Team. In this role, Volunteer Leads help create tools for organizing communication, compile donor information and donation site resources, and coordinate pickup routes and timelines to support smooth collaboration between volunteers and market staff.
Qualifications:

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Comfortable making phone calls and sending emails to donors

Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, online forms)

Experience in customer service, outreach, or fundraising

Familiarity with donation coordination or nonprofit work

Bilingual skills to communicate with diverse donors
