Volunteer Role/Title: Graphic Design and Communications (Social Media) Volunteer
Program Area/Name: GMEC CECB (Community Engagement and Capacity Building) Hillsboro
Locations: Once a month in person at Greater Middle East Center 4915 SW Griffith Dr. Suite #216 Beaverton, OR 97005. Additional work is remote with a flexible schedule
Schedule: 2-4 hours/week.
Time Commitment: At least 1 year
Program Description: The CECB Hillsboro program is targeting GME community members and aiming to promote access of GME community to the existing resources. The volunteers can create a huge impact to engage community members to GMEC activities by using communication tools effectively.
Position Details: The volunteer will help create visually engaging materials and support our digital communications, including social media content, newsletters, flyers, event materials, and other promotional materials.

Create flyers, posters, social media graphics, event announcements, and other visual materials.

Develop and prepare content for social media platforms (WhatsApp and Instagram).

Assist with managing and maintaining social media accounts.

Design and format monthly GMEC newsletters.

Help maintain a consistent visual identity and branding across communication materials.

Create graphics and promotional materials for community events and programs.

Edit and format photos and other visual content as needed.

Collaborate with staff to understand communication needs and develop creative materials.

Organize and maintain graphic design files and templates.

Ensure materials are clear, accessible, culturally appropriate, and visually engaging.
Volunteer Experience & Impact:

Hands-on experience in graphic design and nonprofit communications.

Experience creating materials for real-world community programs and events.

Experience with social media and newsletter management.

Qualifications (skills & experience)

Experience or interest in social media management and digital communications.
Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustr ator, InDesign, or similar programs.

Degree/certificate in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.

Strong visual and creative skills.

Good attention to detail.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.

A good understanding of diverse communities.
Required Qualifications:

Must be 18 or older

Must be able to commute once a month to GMEC Cultural Center

Ability to perform remote tasks (have own laptop, reliable internet connection)
