Locations: In-person at Greater Middle East Center 4915 SW Griffith Dr. Suite #216 Beaverton, OR 97005
Schedule: 4 hours per week, every week. 1 year time commitment
Program Description: Community Engagement and Capacity Building Program strengthens connections with Greater Middle East communities by creating accessible opportunities for engagement, learning, and community connection. Through our social media platforms, we share culturally and linguistically responsive information, resources, events, and opportunities to help community members stay informed and connected with Greater Middle East Center (GMEC) in Beaverton, WA County. Based on identified community needs and interests, the program also organizes a variety of activities, including educational workshops, community gatherings, cultural and social events, and peer support groups. These activities provide safe and welcoming spaces for community members to build social connections, share experiences, develop skills, access resources, and support one another. Through ongoing community engagement and feedback, the program adapts its activities to respond to emerging needs and strengthens community members’ participation, connections, and capacity.
Position Details: The Community Engagement and Capacity Building Program aims to strengthen GMEC’s organizational capacity and enhance our ability to engage with and respond to the needs of Greater Middle East communities. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized volunteer to support program data management, documentation, and reporting.
The volunteer will help enter and maintain program data, including participant sign-in sheets, attendance records, and activity information; organize and maintain program records; support data quality and accuracy; and develop dashboards, summaries, and reports to help the GMEC team understand program participation, community engagement, and impact. The volunteer will also assist with identifying trends and preparing data for internal reporting, presentations, and program planning.
Volunteer Experience & Impact: This role is an opportunity for someone interested in data management, program evaluation, nonprofit operations, community engagement, or capacity building to gain hands-on experience while contributing to programs that serve immigrant and refugee communities.
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. (required)
- Good organizational and time-management skills. (required)
- Intermediate or advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar data management tools. (required)
- Interest or experience in data entry, data management, reporting, dashboards, or program evaluation is preferred.
- Ability to identify missing, inconsistent, or inaccurate information and follow up as needed. (required)
- Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with the GMEC team. (required)
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, data privacy, and responsible handling of participant information. (required)
- Ability to follow established procedures and use organization-approved systems for storing and managing data. (required)
- Interest in community engagement, nonprofit work, immigrant and refugee services, or capacity building is preferred.
- Culturally responsive, respectful, and nonjudgmental approach when working with diverse communities. (required)
- Previous nonprofit or community-based organization experience is helpful but not required.
- Reliable and willing to commit to the agreed volunteer schedule. (required)
