Volunteer Admin Lead 

Program Area: Volunteer Sector 
Location: Remote. Option for in person Tuesdays - IRCO Main Office 
Schedule: Approximately 4 hours per week; flexible scheduling 
Time Commitment: Minimum 6 months

Program Overview 

  • The Volunteer Sector is part of IRCO's Advancement Division and works closely with programs across the organization to recruit, onboard, and support volunteers. Our team helps connect community members with meaningful volunteer opportunities that strengthen IRCO's capacity to serve diverse communities. 

Position Summary 

  • The Volunteer Admin Lead provides administrative and recruitment support to IRCO's Volunteer Sector. In this role, you will help coordinate volunteer recruitment and onboarding processes, maintain volunteer records, and support communication between volunteers and program staff. You will work closely with the Volunteer Sector Manager and play an important role in ensuring volunteers have a positive and efficient experience from application through placement. 

Volunteer Experience & Impact 

  • As a Volunteer Admin Lead, you will become part of a small but impactful team that supports volunteer engagement across the entire organization. This role offers valuable hands-on experience within the nonprofit sector and provides insight into volunteer management, recruitment, and organizational operations. 

  • Your contributions will help programs increase their capacity to serve clients and community members by ensuring they have access to qualified and engaged volunteers. You'll gain exposure to a variety of IRCO programs, learn about community-based services, and help create meaningful volunteer experiences that benefit both volunteers and the communities we serve. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support the recruitment and coordination of volunteers across IRCO programs. 

  • Respond to volunteer inquiries and collect information regarding skills, interests, and availability. 

  • Process volunteer applications and maintain accurate volunteer records. 

  • Create and manage volunteer accounts within volunteer management systems. 

  • Conduct and track volunteer background checks. 

  • Post, update, and maintain volunteer opportunities in Better Impact and other volunteer databases. 

  • Connect approved volunteers with appropriate program staff and opportunities. 

  • Assist the Volunteer Sector Manager with administrative projects and activities. 

  • Maintain volunteer data and generate reports as needed. 

  • Support onboarding and communication processes to ensure a positive volunteer experience. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Passion for giving back to the community and supporting volunteer engagement. 

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills. 

  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on tasks. 

  • Strong attention to detail and reliability. 

  • Comfortable working with people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. 

  • Interest in nonprofit operations, volunteer management, or community engagement. 

 Required Qualifications 

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 

  • Ability to perform remote work tasks, including access to a personal computer and reliable internet connection. 

  • Must successfully pass a background check. 

  • Must complete all required onboarding and role-specific training. 

  • Commitment to working respectfully and effectively with community members from diverse backgrounds.
