Program Description: IRCO’s Tax Support Program, in partnership with the IRS’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, provides free, high-quality tax assistance to eligible taxpayers in the Portland Metro area. Clients include low- to moderate-income individuals and families, people with disabilities, seniors, and immigrant and refugee community members. This program ensures accurate tax preparation, maximized credits and refunds, and improved financial stability through accessible, culturally specific support. By offering free tax preparation services in multiple languages and locations, IRCO reduces financial barriers to professional tax assistance. Volunteers play a vital role in providing direct client support, receiving training and certification to serve as intake specialists or tax preparers.

Tax Preparer: Tax Preparers work one-on-one with individuals and families to complete tax preparation service using electronic filing software, Taxslayer Pro. Tax preparers serve as a trusted resource to ensure accurate filing and help clients understand their refunds or any taxes owed.
