Schedule: Tuesdays/Wednesdays once or twice a week, 4-5:30 pm
Program Description: The Racial Equity Social Justice (RESJ) Program serves youth in grades 1-12 throughout the Portland Public School District. The program provides year-round support to youth and families, including home-to-school and school-to-home communication, academic support,
recreational and prosocial activities, as well as wraparound service referral and navigation utilizing a racial equity and social justice lens.
Position Details: RESJ MSM/PCI programs work with Pacific Islander, African-Immigrant, and Slavic students at Harrison Park, Lane, George, and Roseway Heights Middle Schools. A Volunteer will assist a Youth Advocate with engaging students in their school environment in a positive and culturally appropriate way. A Volunteer will be responsible for providing academic support and tutoring to approximately 12 school-aged (RESJ MSM/PCI) youth during after-school academic group activities once or twice per week.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 or older
- Math & English Skills
- Reliable transportation to and from site
- Must pass PPS background check
- Complete Role Specific Training & Onboarding into the volunteer program
- Open to working with community members from various backgrounds.
