Position: GMEC Outreach & Administrative Support Volunteer
Program Area: Programs operating out of GMEC (including Affordable Housing Program)
Locations: In person IRCO Greater Middle East Center 4915 SW Griffith Dr. Suite #216 Beaverton, OR 97005
Schedule: Volunteer hours are flexible and based on program needs and volunteer availability. Volunteers ideally can support around 4-6 hours per week. GMEC Hours are typically 8:30-5pm Monday-Friday, though volunteers may be asked to support with projects on evenings or weekends as well, if available.
Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week for at least 2 months, with the option to continue longer-term if interested. Short-term or one-time support may also be arranged depending on program needs and events.
Program Description: The Greater Middle East Center (GMEC) is an inclusive service center for communities primarily from the Greater Middle East, including North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. The purpose of Greater Middle East Center Programs is to provide services to primarily GMEC community and build a community based on shared experiences and cultural values.
Position Summary: Outreach volunteers will support IRCO programs operating out of GMEC with conducting outreach to clients, Enroll Arabic speaking participants for the Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and invite them to join to the discussions. We are looking for volunteers with good communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and a desire to help others.
- Make phone calls to clients and community members
- Complete intake forms in Arabic
- Conduct outreach to the Arabic-speaking community
- Organize and maintain paperwork and records
- Provide support with intake documentation and general administrative duties
- Assist with program administration for services such as affordable housing programs
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be 18 or older
- Reliable transportation to and from site
- Complete Role Specific Training & Onboarding into volunteer program
- Knowledge of the Greater Middle East community – preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills – required
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with diverse populations – required
- Ability to navigate community resources and services – preferred
- Experience in outreach, social services, or volunteer work – preferred
- Language skills in (Arabic, Farsi, Dari, Pashto, Pacific Islander languages– nice to have
- Reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts – required
