Volunteer at Cat Haven

Join Cat Haven's most critical volunteer team in assisting with the day-to-day running of the shelter.

Tasks include:

• Cleaning and disinfecting cat condos;
• Washing bowls and litter trays;
• Dunking cat carriers in disinfectant, so they can be used again;
• Doing laundry for our Grounds, Clinic and Boarding teams;
• Sweeping and bagging up rubbish;
• Restocking food, litter and other cat supplies;
• Sorting donations from the public and storing them securely on site; and
• Constructing carriers and folding adoption booklets.

If you join in this program, you will unlock the option to train up to more advanced roles, such as:

• Kennel Support / Morning Clean volunteer: Responsible for daily care of friendly cats on site (feeding, basic health checking, and enrichment);
• Boarding volunteer: Helping to feed, clean, and play with cats who are staying in our boarding facility;
• Quarantine areas: Assist in the care of cats and kittens who have communicable diseases, such as ringworm; and
• Adoptions: Learn how to matchmake a customer with the cats available for adoption.

Retail volunteers are the face of the Cat Haven brand and are responsible for:

• Assisting staff and customers
• Organising and displaying products
• Promoting Cat Haven merchandise
• Organising donations
• Building cat furniture and carriers ready for cats to go to their furever homes

Retail volunteers can go onto assisting with the adoption process and also helping with our online store.

We require drivers for the following tasks:

• Picking up donations
• Driving cats to our External Adoption Centres all over Perth
• Taking cats to specialist vet appointments
• Distributing stock and merchandise to vets and pet shops
• Donating containers for change
• Picking up fundraising prizes
• Collecting cats from councils
• Transporting cats to external vet clinics for sterilisation and microchipping

We're on the hunt for Marketing Volunteers to help us with our social media to spread the word and find loving homes for cats in need.

Whether you're a marketing student, an aspiring Insta star, or a TikTok aficionado, we want your skills!

• Capture & edit adorable photos/videos/Reels of our cats
• Craft engaging social media content
• Ensure content meets Cat Haven's standards
• Visit adoption centres & foster homes across Perth
• Assist with other marketing & fundraising tasks

The Cat Haven Events & Fundraising team is one of our most crucial parts of our operation. Events include:

• Cat Haven Quiz night
• Wet Nose Day
• Catmus Christmas Markets
• Kitten Yoga sessions
• Felines and Fashion pop up events
• Carlisle Collective Markets
• Kitten destress sessions
• Information sessions with schools
• Media events
• Event preparation, setting up marquees, moving tables and stock

Cat Haven Op Shop - Scarborough

We are looking for fabulous Op Shop volunteers with attributes that include:

• Customer Service Purrfessional: Greet customers with a smile and help them find their perfect purchase.
• Team Players: Work with a fabulous team of volunteers.
• Fur-tastic Treasure Hunter: Sort, price, and display donated pre-loved items.
• Merchandiser: Create eye-catching displays.

Cat Haven Op Shop - Willetton

Following the opening of our Scarborough Op Shop in 2024, we are excited to announce the opening of a second Cat Haven Op Shop location in Willetton in June 2025 and we need passionate volunteers to help make it a success. 

If you love working with people, finding hidden treasures, and making a real difference for cats in need, we’d love to have you on board!
