As a Visitor Experience & Retail Volunteer at Cooktown Museum, you'll be part of a small, friendly team that values teamwork, initiative, and great customer service. Whether you enjoy working independently or alongside others, this role offers a rewarding and enjoyable way to make a difference in our community.
Your duties will involve:
- Greeting and engaging visitors from all walks of life.
- Taking admissions and processing gift-shop sales using point of sale (POS) software
- Helping to keep the gift shop tidy and well-stocked.
- Supporting with stocktake at the end of each month.
- Learning about local history and assisting guests with queries.
- Working alongside heritage staff and liaising with the Manager.
You're a great fit for the role if you are:
- Able to interact comfortably and confidently with people from all walks of life.
- Friendly and approachable.
- Physically able to perform the role outlined.
- Confident using computers and willing to learn the museum's POS system.
When can I volunteer?
- Ideally, we request a commitment of at least one 3-hour shift a week. If you have specific requirements, this can always be discussed on application. Induction and training will be provided.
As a valued volunteer, you'll also receive a National Trust QLD Teams Card, which provides discounts on membership, travel, and experiences, as well as free entry for yourself and up to four guests to National Trust properties.
You'll also be invited to staff and volunteer events, receive regular newsletters from the CEO, and have access to training opportunities to support your role and personal growth.
