Be part of a lively community event and help create a warm, welcoming experience for local families.

Location: Woodlands Academy

Address: Hathaway Gardens, Ealing, London W13 0DH

Timings: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Volunteers: up to 4 volunteers

Who will see the difference? Underserved communities who often do not have the opportunity to engage with health services

The Healthy Ealing Team, part of West London NHS Trust, supports the delivery of the Black Health In-Reach model. The model works in partnership with trusted community organisations to bring health information, services and checks into familiar community spaces, helping to reduce barriers to accessing healthcare and improve health outcomes for Black communities.

We are supporting Zebra Sports to deliver the next event in the programme: the Zebra Sports Family Fun & Wellness Day — “Choose Life!”

This free community event is for the whole family and will include activities, health and wellbeing services, community stalls, food and entertainment.

The volunteering activity

We're looking for volunteers to support on the day by helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for attendees, and support with recording and collecting important data.

Volunteer responsibilities may include:

  • Welcoming and engaging with attendees
  • Registering attendees when they arrive
  • Directing people to relevant activities, stalls and health services
  • Encouraging attendees to take part in the health and wellbeing opportunities available
  • Supporting attendees to complete community feedback surveys
  • Helping to collect attendance and evaluation information accurately and sensitively
  • Ensuring attendees feel comfortable, listened to and supported throughout the day
  • Assisting with setting up before the event and packing away afterwards

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working with people, is passionate about community health and wellbeing, and can communicate respectfully with people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Considerations:

You are likely to be on your feet for significant periods on the day. Parking is available in the surrounding area. Nearby stations include West Ealing and Castle Bar Park. Food available during the event, but may be limited depending on community attendance.
