Wildlife Monitoring and Surveying - Pateke Monitoring

Come be a part of our Annual Pateke Count – Pateke / Brown Teal were the first translocated species to our islands in 2012. Six females and six males were released into the Entico area on Urupukapuka and their population has now grown and spread to other parts of our islands.

 

We complete annual monitoring as part of the National Pateke flock count. This bird count is visual. We will provide monitoring sheets for tallying; it is a very simple process and you don't need to be a scientist to do it!

We will travel out to the islands on our work boat Marara.

 

 

Please bring your own water, snacks, wind and waterproof jacket, hat, sunglasses and binoculars if you have some.
