Annual Day of Service! - Giving Garden

The Giving Garden needs your help to get us ready for winter. We’ll be cutting any plants killed by frost, taking down stakes & trellises, rolling up irrigation lines, moving mulch & compost to cover the beds, and maybe some final harvesting. We also have a few repair tasks around the garden shed. Tasks are weather dependent so they’ll be finalized and communicated with volunteers a week ahead of time. No experience is necessary - just a willingness to get your hands dirty! All ages are welcome, children under 12 welcome with a parent or other adult to supervise. Project questions? Contact Emily Strong.

Gather either with Emily at the garden (just south of the Rolling Ridge Retreat and Conference Center at 660 Great Pond Rd., North Andover) or with Mark at South Church if you prefer to join the breakfast and send off prayer. We’ll then drive to the garden.  Please park in the paved lot at end of retreat center driveway and walk across grass field to garden. Bring a water bottle, maybe a hat or sunglasses. Bug spray and long pants are recommended to avoid ticks. Gloves provided or bring your own.

The Giving Garden is a half-acre regenerative garden to feed the hungry. Our mission is to address local food insecurity by bringing together diverse communities of volunteers and guiding them in sustainable, organic farming practices. A second goal is to create opportunities for children and youth to volunteer, as we hope to reconnect them with nature and the land that feeds us.
