Patient Companion - Children's ED or Bluebell ward - Lister Hospital
Children’s Services: Children's Emergency Department (ED) or Bluebell Ward, Lister.
Tasks:
- Chat to patients and their families, play games
- Collection of feedback through Family & Friends surveys
- Providing hydration to patients and their families in ED
- Assisting with meal service
- Providing relief breaks for parents/guardians
- Guiding patients from emergency department to X-ray/other departments, as needed
- General tidying of areas
Shift pattern:
Monday – Friday
- A 3-hour shift, any time between 10am to 8pm
- Note if working in ED, afternoons will be best to volunteer
Requirements:
- Volunteers must be over 18 years old
- DBS level: Enhanced Adult and Children
- Must have completed/or be willing to complete the Oliver McGowan Tier 1 course (Learning Disability and Autism) prior to volunteering. Training for this will be provided.
