Helen Schuler Nature Centre Volunteer Team

Purpose:

Special Events Assistants provide support during busy festivals and offsite events in an effort to raise awareness about the Nature Centre’s programs and services.  Supporting the mission and vision, the Special Event Assistant represents the Nature Centre in the community by helping acting as an ambassador at events like Canada Day at Henderson Lake, Lethbridge Children’s Expo, Spring Nature Fest, Wild Side of Love, Family Day, Nature Play Day, among many others. 

Location:

Special Events take place at the Nature Centre and at various locations throughout the City of Lethbridge.

Role:

• Facilitate special events by providing information, instructions, and answering questions about the Nature Centre and Lethbridge’s river valley.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with preparation, setup, operation, and cleanup of special events.
• Assist with setup and cleanup of conservation projects (like placing signage and sign-in forms).
• Compile statistics of visitors.
• Ensure event safety by minding hazards.
• Promote stewardship and shared responsibility of natural spaces.
• Work with large groups of people in a professional manner.
