District Attorney's Office - Cold Cases Volunteer
The 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is looking for a few volunteers to bring a critical eye and analysis to cold cases in Arapahoe County.
This program will give volunteers an opportunity to give back to the community by playing an active role in reviewing and assessing cold case files in an effort to generate new leads and move unsolved cases forward for prosecution and justice for victims and their families.

Expectations and details:
- Volunteers will be provided with training and a copy of one cold case file, including documents and media.
- Reviewing the cold case file may take between 50 to 200 hours to provide insight on the case for solvability.
- Volunteers should attend monthly DA’s Office cold case taskforce meetings and provide input on any case(s) being presented.
- Keep strictly confidential the information contained within your assigned file, neither retaining extra copies of, nor discussing the contents with anyone outside of the DA’s Office or other cold case volunteers or taskforce members when convened at the DA’s Office.
- Abide by all laws, DA’s Office policies and procedures, and directions of your DA’s Office supervisor.
Volunteers should have prior experience in law enforcement, prosecution, criminal defense, forensic science, or other pertinent experience to constitute a well-qualified applicant.
In the application, please describe your interest or experience in law enforcement or the criminal justice system. After completing the application, DA's Office staff will reach out to schedule an interview and conduct background checks.
