Volunteer Programs - 2. C - Recreation - Day Camps, Art, Recreation and Sport programs
Volunteers are needed to assist with various Day Camps, Recreation, Sport and Art programs with the City of Abbotsford Recreation Department . Most camps run in the summer with limited availability during winter and spring breaks. Recreation, Sport and Art programs run year round with various dates and times. You will have an opportunity to help program staff lead games, crafts and other activities.
Note; your signup here is an expression of interest; you will confirm your participation in this program and chose your shifts once your training is complete.
Description of Responsibilities:
• Assist the instructor as needed.
• Distribute equipment to participants.
• Assist with crafts and activities.
Skills and Qualities Required:
• Ability to take direction from staff.
• Ability to work with children.
Requirements:
- Minimum Age: 14; unless you’ve completed the Recreation Leadership course offered at Abbotsford Recreation Centre.

- Please see the CRC form which you will need to complete and bring to our meeting as mentioned below. I will need to see 2 pieces of ID (1 primary – Passport or birth certificate and 1 secondary – Student ID or Care Card). Once I’ve checked your ID, then I submit the form on your behalf. Please note that this process currently takes the Provincial Government 4-6 weeks to process.

- Please note if you are under the age of 18 years old you will also need this form signed by a parent or guardian.

- Attend an Orientation Meeting. Register for a scheduled Orientation meeting which you will find under your volunteer profile opportunities tab. This meeting will provide you with the ability to meet the volunteer coordinator and submit your documents. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the volunteer role. Program specific/event training will occur at the recreation centre.

Additional Information:
Individuals can record volunteer hours under "Hours Log" in their myvolunteerpage.com account. Staff will approve the hours you’ve logged.
All Volunteers for this program must be Level 2 approved. Level 2 volunteers are those that have successfully completed their orientation interview, a Criminal Record Check and two references.
