Volunteer Programs - 1. Parks - One Time Beautifications

Want to help beautify your neighbourhood, local park or trail? Not everyone has the time available to make an ongoing commitment and a one-time clean up event is still a huge benefit to our community.  Your sign-up here is an expression of interest in this program, we will then from time to time send you information about park clean up days, tree plantings, invasive plant removals and other beatification related volunteer opportunities.  You can then choose which opportunities you wish to participate in.

Note; your signup here is an expression of interest; you will confirm your participation in this program and chose assignments once your training is complete. 

  

Description of Responsibilities:
• Collect litter.

• Assist with invasive planting, or brush removal
• Report vandalism/maintenance concerns.
• Assist with tree plantings

 

Skills and Qualities Required:
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 14; unless with an organized group/organization or with parent/guardian supervision.
  • Let us know what Park/Trail or Street you’d like to adopt.
  • Submit your Volunteer Agreement.
    • Please note if you are under the age of 18 years old you will also need this form signed by a parent or guardian.
  • Register for a Parks Orientation meeting which you will find under your volunteer profile opportunity tab.  During this meeting we will review safety tips and pick-up your clean up supplies. If you are in a group only the group leader is required to attend this orientation. (at this time these meetings will be held over ZOOM)
  • Register for a Supply Pick up meeting to pick your supplies which you will find under your volunteer profile opportunity tab. 

 

Time Commitment:
• Flexible.

Location:
• Liaise with staff.

Additional Information:
Individuals can record volunteer hours under "Hours Log" in their myvolunteerpage.com account. Staff will approve the hours you’ve logged.

 

All Volunteers for this program must be Level 1 approved. Levels 1 volunteers are those that have successfully completed their orientation, which includes a review of Clean-up safety guidelines.
